Just exactly what's wrong with the Trade...Baboon's with saloon's who want to sit on their ar$e and be of no help whatsoever...Then post on such a Topic...... ](*,)

Thanks for the generalisation mate, I've run a saloon car both PH and HC for over 20 years now, I've never refused a wheelchair in my life, and I am also only to happy to carry them as I thank my lucky stars it ain't me sitting in the chair, this is something I can say isn't always the case with WAV driver's, I've seen them whisk an able bodied person away infront of a chair because it's too much hassle to get the ramps out, also if you talk to disabled folk they hate WAV's and prefer the chance to get out of the chair and have a one to one face to face chat with the driver, makes them feel normal for 10 minutes, I find a WAV a nessessity but I also find them to be an unsociable means of travel for both able and disabled folks, if you are a London cabby I can forgive you your indescretion as I know what a saloon in London means * pikey theif* but us others who are fully licensed HC's offer just as good if not better service, and until I run on a London tarriff I don't really feel obligied to buy and maintain a 30k+ vehicle just to get £3.50p off a punter going half a mile all day.

He's got a London cab alright, but he's from Dundee.
He thinks that everyone else should buy one as well.

Blaw Blaw Blaw.....It's still the only Purpose built TAXI... :D

:-({|=

Shame it's a pile of sh*t

What is a shame is the whole Taxi Trade..From National to Local Government, the unfairness created, the ill-will installed by the powers that be, the fact that how many times tried, unity will never prevail, it's all there to see and change...but rather than channel our energies into a positive proposal, we stoke the Government fire's of divide by slagging each other and, the many vehicles akin to our Licence conditions.
Yes, i bought a TX11, although i could have opted for the cheaper conversions, but that was my choice..the proper tool for the job with Driver/passenger safety a big factor, but,i also think that we all work on a very unfair playing field ! The DDA is discrimitory towards certain members of the Trade and LA's filling thier coffers with the revenues is very disheartening but, until a fair, even, logical solution is proposed by we..The Trade..no legislation will be installed ever..Isn't it sad that we sometimes take pleasure in another's misery and misfortune...

I actually agree with much of what you say, tx-op.

Where I differ is your assertion that the tx is the only tool for the job. I've been in this trade for 14 years now and I have run 5 WAVs in that time, including a series 3 Metrocab. (This was also sold as "purpose built taxi", "tool for the job" etc. In truth, a fiberglass bucket of sh*t.) You bought your tx in good faith, your choice as you said. Now you seek to take that same choice from everyone else and foist yours on them. You should have weighed up all the pros and cons first, including how much it would cost to buy, MPG, reliability, servicing costs etc and compared them with the alternatives available. You should also have considered that trade wouldn't always be as good as it was at the time. If you are struggling more than your competition, it is because your choice left you with a smaller operating margin. Don't blame others for making different choices to you.
One size just doesn't fit all in this trade.
Allow others the same choice you had. Better yet, give everyone the choice of whatever vehicle they wish to operate, with no more 2 or 3 tier taxi licensing.

Paul Weller

High tide, mid afternoon
People fly by, in the traffics boom
Knowing, just where you are blowing
Getting to where you should be going

Dont let them get you down
Making you feel quilty about
golden rain, will bring you riches
All the good things you deserve and now

Climbing, forever trying
Find your way out of the wild, wild wood
Now theres no justice
Only yourself that you can trust in

And I said high tide, mid afternoon
People fly by, in the traffics boom
Knowing, just where you are blowing
Getting to where you should be going

Day by day your world fades away
Waiting to feel all the dreams that say
Golden rain will bring you riches
All the good things you deserve now

And I say, climbing, forever trying
find you way out of the wild, wild wood
Said you are gonna find you way out of the wild, wild wood.

About sums it up Gus......

As Labour's popularity sinks lower and lower as the results from local and EU elections prove.... the question is... will they get back into power at the next elections... and when will these elections be.... I would be surprised if there was any parliamentary time allotted to this issue before then... will the next new government waste time on this issue or will they be too busy plugging holes in a sinking ship...... I know what my money is on.....

If that ends up being the case, the the taxi/PH trade need to work a lot harder to get things sorted.

We can't allow another 4/5/6/??? years of drift. [-X

Post office clerks put up signs saying position closed
And secretaries turn off typewriters and put on their coats
Janitors padlock the gates
For security guards to patrol
And bachelors phone up their friends for a drink
While the married ones turn on a chat show

And theyll all be lonely tonight and lonely tomorrow

Gentlemen time please, you know we cant serve anymore
Now the traffic lights change to stop, when theres nothing to go
And by five oclock everythings dead
And every third car is a cab
And ignorant people sleep in their beds
Like the doped white mice in the college lab

Nothing ever happens, nothing happens at all
The needle returns to the start of the song
And we all sing along like before

And well all be lonely tonight and lonely tomorrow

Telephone exchanges click while theres nobody there
The martians could land in the carpark and no one would care
Close-circuit cameras in department stores shoot the same video every day
And the stars of these films neither die nor get killed
Just survive constant action replay

Nothing ever happens, nothing happens at all
The needle returns to the start of the song
And we all sing along like before

And well all be lonely tonight and lonely tomorrow

Bill hoardings advertise products that nobody needs
While angry from manchester writes to complain about
All the repeats on t.v.
And computer terminals report some gains
On the values of copper and tin
While american businessmen snap up van goghs
For the price of a hospital wing

Nothing ever happens, nothing happens at all
The needle returns to the start of the song
And we all sing along like before
Nothing ever happens, nothing happens at all
Theyll burn down the synagogues at six oclock
And well all go along like before

And well all be lonely tonight and lonely tomorrow

Songwriters: Currie, Justin

I often ask myself .. what's the point... for the reality is the majority of the taxi and private hire trade are to tight-fisted to join a union or Association...But want everything to suit themselves.... but there must be no cost to them in either time or money.
somebody else should do all the work, free of charge mind you, while they stay on the road filling their boots, They deserve to be trodden on.

I think the answer is for you, me, the Captain, Mr BB, NALEO and the NPHA to put something forward and if others don't like it, then tough.

Else we will be back to square one waiting for folks to die before younger folks with sense take control.

Oh and let Londoners do what they like and keep their hooters out of non London business.

I know a few taxi drivers from London who would fit nicely into the above.

Non members who have no say in how an organisation is run, but seem to have the loudest voice, whilst sitting on their arses on the sideline doing nothing.

Oh yes, we all know folks like that. [-X

I don't think that will ever happen although it makes quite a bit of sense :D
