Banta was in court charged with parking his car in a restricted area. The judge asked him, if he had anything to say in his defence.

"They should not put up such misleading notices," said Banta.
"It said, FINE FOR PARKING HERE."

We have a great one in our town at the moment. The co-op have a car park right next to a council carpark. There is a chap sitting in a van all day waiting for people to buy a ticket from the council machine for their car parked in the co-op car park. When the driver goes out of sight he quickly puts on a wheel clamp. The cost for removal is £150.
Delivery drivers are stopping in the delivery bay and the chap follows them to see where they are delivering and if it isn't to one of the shops in the co-op owned centre they get a clamp as well.

To be fair to ours they're ok kinda. I had 10 minutes to wait before I didn't have to pay to park in an all day car park. They charged 2.50 for all day the traffic officers were walking past and I asked if it had to pay for 10 mins. They said I should but they were going home so they wouldn't book me. Which was good cos I'd have been late for my college class. Although I did get one for parking outside my own house cos I was moving and needed to get them van on the drive, I was gutted cos normally they knock on the door and ask if I'm going to be long.

There was a letter in our local paper today from a pensioner who was visiting from out of town. The man in the van watched him get his ticket from the wrong machine and leave. He then clamped the pensione and waited for him to return. The pensioner asked him why he didn't warn him that he had got the ticket from the wrong machine and the reply was "It's not my job to help you." The co-op are not very popular in these parts. I can see a protest outside their superstore coming on.

These aren't traffic wardens they are a private clamping firm contracted by the co-op.
