Our rules state that property found in the taxi must be handed into a police station.

Last time I took a mobile phone to the police station, as we are instructed to do in our by-laws, I was told that the police do not accept lost property any more and to keep it until the owner contacted me. This thing was left by some anonymous punter picked up from the rank and the battery was flat. This was 2 years ago and I still have the phone in the cubby box in my cab.
