We used to have one round our way some years ago, it was token scheme where the OAP's gave you a token in part payment for the fare. It got stopped after it became open to abuse.

We've just changed from national travel tokens to local travel tokens issued with our borough's name on them.

We cannot redeem national travel tokens after March next year and the new tokens have a date on them so we have to redeem those pretty quickly as well.

Down to each council if they do, and how much they spend.

I wont accept any of them until I can pay my license fees and council tax with them, to put a clause in to say they will only change £250 worth at a time is pathetic, if they wont accept them back then I wont take them full stop.

Our OAPs have a choice of a Bus pass or £25 in tokens we can take the tokens(and we get paid a massive 2.5% handling fee when we cash them in), , but its usually idiots on a Sat night trying to use them because they have nicked them off their nan.
