WARNING; Parking at McDonalds

Here is an extract from an email I recieved from one of my sons; their jobs takes him all around the country.

Perhaps it's as well that we all know about this.

Eat at McD's ..... perhaps not after this!!

Guys

Thought I’d email this to everyone as we all use McDonalds for briefings and meetings quite often!

A few weeks ago we had such a meeting at a McDonalds in Enfield, where myself and Tom waited a while for Joe to turn up. The parking was signed as limited to 75 minutes and we kept an eye on our cars as we waited and overstayed this period but no one ever looked at or clamped them so we thought nothing of it. This morning I have received a charge notice of £50 or £100 if not paid within 14 days.

The parking company uses ANPR (Automated Number Plate Recognition) software and films every car coming in and out. The notice has a photo of you coming and leaving the car park, so it is pretty impossible to argue with it!

Please forward this to everyone I have not included in the email.

My query is; do these sites display ANPR warning notices?

I believe they are a legal requirement (a form of CCTV) & are displayed on petrol forecourts that use this technology.

Nothing more than these people deserved on this occasion. The post clearly states that they saw the signs and chose to ignore them. It also clearly states that they were there "to hold a meeting" and not have a meal so they were trying to get "free" office space. serves them right.

I'm inclined to agree here, there are times when I want to take the kids in for a splash and dash on the road and the carpark is full yet there are only 20 ppl in the place, it's McDonalds land and they pay rates for the plot, the last thing they need is to become NCP free, after all what do we say when someone does a runner, it's the same principle of using something that there is a charge for without paying.

I would stick the ticket they sent in the bin were it belongs, it is just a scam to con people out of money, dont ever contact them they will hound you for months before they give in.
And that goes for any sort of ticket like that. unless its a council or police ticket IGNORE...

I think they might have the right to collect fines under some law or other.

If they don't, then any threatening letters would be deemed, 'demanding money with menaces'.

they use peoples gullibilty to extract money, there is no law covreing what they do, check pepipoo out, there only option to make you pay is the small claims court, but not likely for them to win, they are just scamming scum.

Not at all, but they saw the signs and knew the risk.

Same round here I'm affraid, your using their land they have put signs up warning you. People abuse the free parking offered by companies like these.

My mate owns an Insurance Brokers in Mansfield, he's got a massive car park behind his shop in Mansfield, he lets people who have policies with his brokership park for free behind the shop while they do their shopping, it has become open to abuse by people parking there who are not insured with him, these people are friends of people who are insured there. He's taken action and he's had a few signs put up and issues tickets himself, he sends the tickets off to a company who then collect the money for him. It's stopped some of the car parking problems he's waiting to get the others.

I think this all started a few years ago, and even including some petrol stations.

I believe in some areas boycotts of those petrol stations took place.

It also happens on motorway services and including clamping but a few truck drivers carry either heavy duty bolt croppers or air powered grinders to remove them.
