Why would you think that there would be private hire at Birmingham Airport?
As I see it the contract to run TAXI services has been given to another company. They are running TAXIS from the airport just like BASTA did. It is just different TAXIS.

At the moment

So how do you see things CC? Cos from the people I have spoken to at the airport (drivers), they seem to think everything is fine.

I think toots has it about right......in my view for all of BASTA (d's) faults it was an organising factor......whats there now?.....looks like a disorganised rabble ready to be stood on......or ridden roughshod over.

CC

I stood and watched how things were operating for over an hour a few days ago as I had time to kill before my pick up. All the drivers looked very smart in their new "uniforms" and everything seemed to be running like clockwork. There was a chap at the rank who would call up the taxis from the feeder park as and when required. It certainly didn't look like a disorganised rabble.

Are those the same uniforms they were up in arms about a few months back when BASTA told them they needed them?

Time will tell I guess

From what I was told, many of the drivers did not work the airport under BASTA. I think it was a condition of the new license that the drivers had to dress this way. If the BASTA drivers wouldn't do it then it is hardly siuprising that they were replaced. I think the "uniform" or dress code is white shirt, black trousers and shoes. Hardly a big ask realy.

Now don't go using abreviations like CBA. You will only confuse Toots.

Ah yes I rememeber it well. The BASTA drivers were not happy when they had the contract and now they are not happy because they have lost the contract. Mind you one of the current drivers who wouldn't work the airport under BASTA told me that the figure of £540 was a bit on the low side and so was the quote of 400 drivers working the airport.
