correct me if I am wrong but the union flag is made up of the flag of st George of England, The flag of st Andrew of Scotland and the flag of st Patrick of Ireland. So that would be just the welsh that are left out and they are not realy a country, they are a principality aren't they?

Im quite fond of Wales, we lived in Snowdonia and our lad was born there, so they can put the dragon on the flag for me..

You obviously have not heard the latest news on the Quakers then.

To say I was a bit shocked is putting it mildly, considering how strict & authoritarian they are supposed to be.

I just think that all the famous chocolate makers would be rolling in their graves now, with that news.

It must just be my suspicious mind then, but, I think it's blatantly obvious what I thought you were implying

The line was ..... Lah Lah Land and ..... genderless & I thought of the Quaker story.

I have a very great 'bee in my bonnet' about Quakers & have for decades, never mind this story, which just happens to have made it a great deal worse & 'just takes the buscuit'.

Let me expalain.

For as long as I can remember as a cabbie Birmingham, licensing laws, until recent years, were held back by a certain Licensing Justice. These all stemmed from centuries gone by when the city was dominated by Quakers, the most prominent of which was John Cadbury & then his descendants in the Cadbury family. Other prominent Quakers in other cities were Joseph Rowntree & Joseph Fry, all chocolate makers in centuries gone by. Hence my reference to chocolate makers turning in there grave.

It was so bad with licensing, that when we had the British Motor Show at the NEC for years, the pubs, bars, restaurants & clubs could not even get license extensions for the duration of the Motor Show. Obviously, this had an effect on every cabbie's earnings & gave Brum a reputation as a very conservative city, where it was impossible to get a drink in a pub after 10.30 as it was then.

Hence my outburst about Quakers.

Now contrast their strict stance on licensing laws, which I have no doubt would have continued in Brum if not for national legislation & their oh so liberal approach to 'genderless' or same sex unions. The two done stack up.

Capishe?

Yes I do 'Capishe'. I did understand your reference to the chocolate making but didn't understand why you thought I may have been a quacker other than you may have thought I was of the strange Lah Lah and genderless variety myself. Thank you for your interesting information it's always appreciated :D
