My God,this is about as clear as mud!
I guess I am not legal taking bookings from home(not my licensed area).
Surely if I had an ops licence for my home district then I would need my vehicle to be licensed there too?
Anyone know how much the 0800 number costs?
I don't have an online booking form, just enquiries.
Regards
Derby Ram

Mine too. I would however not use my home phone for advertising[use 0800 on divert to mobile all 100% legal], job done!

presumably if he has a website with a bookings page that cant work for out-of-area users?

is Derby taking ideas from Beiijing now?
why not? He can take any job in any area just not from his own home phone number. Unless he gives his plate up and gets a local ops licence, plate/badge etc. Why change?

be aware

if, as we suspect, you have been grassed up by jealous "others". they may also complain you run a business from home without planning permission or paying business rates...

(just thinking like a grass here.....)

I have been through this one. The planning department and the rates department both came out to see me. From a planning point of view I could have 2 vehicles running from home without the need for planning permission. From a rates point of view, providing I did not have a dedicated office in the house (mine is a desk in the corner of the lounge) I was not liable for business rates.

GD, I concur, however for the cost of a phone call (anon) its a nice upset for our Derbyram, a few weeks of worrying.

he should advertise more, and push the web side of things, yell.com (free) google business mapping, etc, etc, and go after his own contract work - it sbread and butter and he would win it off established circuits...

You have a half decent LA grandad, my LA wanted TEMP Planning on one vehicle total cost for operating one vehicle £800+ . I was passed on to planning then the council Tax dept, then the valuation dept. They may well of imposed TIME operating restrictions on me as well, as they have done with others in the LA.
