It happened in tamworth years ago (with notice) when all hacks had to be "london cabs", about the same time the DIS-DIS act came in, but im sure then it required only 25% of fleets to be WAVs, I think its crazy to insist on a full-WAV hack fleet, who promotes this, WAV-producers?....
Yup! The only folks who want WAVS are the producers. Not even the Wheelchair users want em. Stinks of brown stuff & brown envelopes.

I wonder how much HCs have forked out for WAVs with no chance of recouping the extra over the last 10 years, how many have over-extended themselves on HP and maybe gone without or gone bust struggling to pay for that nice new shiny WAV that gets 5 WAV jobs a year...

You know wanabe, that could be the answer, if everyone went PH in these areas the council would be up sheit creek, just imagin no HC at all

would one councillor actually worry though? - course not

and would you get solidarity amongst the HCs? - course not

There could be in situations like this where all HC are saloons and they are told they must put a wav on

The amount of people in wheelchairs who go past WAV's to get into normal cars on our rank is unbelievable, they say they feel safer in a normal car..

A friend who works in Beverley has just told me that their L.A, has just informed them that at their next change of vehicle they have to have a Wheel chair accessible vehicle or they will not get renewed, I thought I read on here somewhere that is not legal can anyone advise please.

Nottingham did it a few years ago, the drivers tried to fight it but the Council won in the end.

Skippy, I suggest you read the Wirral case from 1983 (ish) as probably posted by the late JD.

Read the dft access to taxis report, there is not one taxis out there that is 100% accessible. And that includes TX,s.

If anyone had attended the DFT workshops they will know what i am saying

Until there is a vehicle that is 100% accessible there will not be a 100% wav policy.
