Why don't you clean it out yourself?

My garage just jet washes it, it's done in a jiffy.

If its anything like the metro engine, you can rectify this with a 10p bolt from B@Q

I'm no mechanic, but I presume the only function this EGR set up does is to cool the exhaust gas a little before being relesed from the rear exhaust pipe?

no its to recircualte the spent exhaust gases back through the inlet manifold.
egr (exhaust gas recirculation)
does bugger all but glog up yer inlet.
put a solid plate over it.(sandwiched between the egr and the inlet maifold youl see a gasket take it out and replace it with a solid one)
if you cant make youre own ,youre garage will know how to sort it no probs
easy fix.
if only you could do that to all the sensors on a modern car,all this anti pollution is a pile of [edited by admin],perfectly good engines wont work because of a faulty sensor.and there everywhere on modern cars.

btw mr t wont help you his knowledge cost money.

if the EGR has a sensor on it then a solid plate needs a 5mm hole in it to fool the ECU otherwise you will get an error code, etc.

how Ford made this work on jaguar 2.2 deisels whilst mondeos smoke is the question.... or did they?

my 130ps 6 speed modeo and Tourneo (same engine, different location for EGR) both smoked, but not once the vacuum pipe for the EGR somehow came off...

Thats robbing as opposed to getting a free plate, putting a shed on the road and selling a £500 scrapper for £50K plus?
