Could be 8)

Wonder what this will do for LTI's future viability?

Here's hoping.

The LTDA have been calling for more choice for many years.

Will we finally get a Cab for under the £25k price tag? [-o<

Not if you want an auto gearbox & all the whistles, flutes & trombones included you won't.

More like close to £30K

You know the what the next step is going to be...If you can then license any suitable vehicle NOT WAV

You can do that at the moment, the act says that as long as the vehicle has an engine of 1.4 or above has 4 doors and is a certain size it can become a cab, its only the councils who have misinterpreted the law, or changed it to suit them selves
I agree but it takes a good man/woman to step up to the mark and pursue it. The act is good, just the idiots who read it make it look bad.
Oh and dont worry about loosing your wav, you will still be able to keep it, you just wont be telling us we have to have one anymore.

That depends, I don't want 'cabs' such as the Doblo's / Freedoms masquerading as Taxi's in London.

Surely once the flood gates open the choice will be more numerous than just a few suitable vehicles. If the likes of the above are suitable everywhere else in the Country why are they not suitable in London. The danger of removing the turning circle opens more than just one door IMO

The 'floodgates' have not opened in Edinburgh.

Rear loading not allowed.

Simples.

Choice does'nt mean every vehicle with 4 wheels being licensed.

The other thing which may confuse the public in London if they introduce the likes of the E7 and Mercs etc it would be easy to mistake an Addison Lee vehicle for a London Taxi

It's the one with the dumper truck rear steering so it can do a 25 foot turning circle.

BTW, the front wheels turn too.

Thank you for the explanation and I'm so glad that the front wheels turn too cos that could cause a problem if they didn't, where's that kettle when you need it

According to 'some' London drivers tonight, the trade will be finished if they license the E7 ! :D

They'd sooner drive a vehicle that spends half of it's life on a recovery truck that gives you prolapsed discs and sciatica.

Of course the 500 Mercedes taxi owners in London have all gone bankrupt since they bought their superior vehicles.

You mean they haven't?

Some of them get lot's of repeat bookings?

Cor blimey Guv, the games finished . . when my old man drove a cab in 1954 . . . etc etc. :?

Doh! like nobody can do a 3 point turn these days, personally if I had to pick a WAV Pug/Cit/Fiat wouldn't get a look regardless of price, but that's still no reason to ban 12k cheaper competition than an LTi product, that will rust, burn headlight lenses and cost more than a fortune to keep on the road.

I'd have thought there would have been more people around to see this but didn't appear to be any more than the crew and the driver
