well the way things are going with the apathy and ignorance and the mass mob mentality it wont be that long before you can throw me in a camp for undesirables somewhere were ill manufacture plastic plates for you to put on youre taxi.
be carefull though becouse they will come for you to! they always do.
btw i was on forums long before i got my plate
and i have never tried to justify myself to anyone, like most i see the world through my eyes, and i make no apology for that.
however i do not try to impose my way on other ppl(i want an old cab you want a new one im not stopping you getting one am i)you on the other hand would have some unnecesery requirement imposed on all, when there is already a perfectly good test that must be past to ensure public saftey.
you moan about the state of this country doom, when it is this sort of crap that allows them to wither away youre rights, the nanny state soon turns into a fascist one if you let it these things creep into cultures and society.
thats one thing i admire about the french they will shut there counrty down when there liberty is threatened.
perhaps what we need is a revolution in this counrty it did the french a power of good.
sweep all the crap away and start again

Ali, me personally have no intention of having a go at you irl, I've been trying to warn you that there will be those that will, there's nothing worse than some other person costing you a lot of money and I think you are putting yourself in the scope for not that much reward tbh.

Now there's something we can agree on with a life reboot, sadly though even if it should happen it will get back the same way within a hundred years, studies show that 5% of ppl seem to have the ability to take all from the other 95% when it comes to money.

I understand that you are putting a car on that satisfies the tester, but I see old cars locally that also pass the test, but they are tired, from your pov it makes sense to run as economic as possible, I just think the public has the right to something modern and refined rather than a bucket of bolts that is shabby already, we all know what they deserve, a transit with two bench seats and a puke trough in the middle, but as we charge for services they also have the right to value, it's like the choice of entering two diner's, one is clean and fresh and the other the cook blows his nose on his pinny.

how do you work out 150 plates ALI when the report says only 30 and at that iam still trying to work out how they get that amount when there is a down turn in work right now and dont say that there is not.

that 150 may be a little conservative btw

Kinell Ali, you just will not see any other opinion other than yours will you, as Mr T said, those running bins obviously have either no pride or are just plain tight, still I suppose if the council allow it ppl will exploit it, it's a funny thing with WAV's and TX's, here they can stay on up to 12 years where a saloon is done after 6 years of age, yet from what I see the WAV and TX's should really only be allowed 4 years as they are shot to bits by then, one a converted builders van and the other a rusting giant Morris Minor clone that melts headlights and kills steering components for fun.

Well lets just say it's older than what I would normally run and, but it's not done 100k and is kept looking better than cars half it's age and doesn't sound like Keith Moon on a bad day, it was being replaced last May but the car I purchased was a dog when I got there to view it so I got my deposit back, not something you expect from a main dealer tbh, then I looked at the downturn and decided to run it on another 12 months, so where I'm normally in something 18 mths old at 1st licensing, I'm currently in a 5 yr old car that I've owned for half of that time.

@ Sussex, nice try but I work a city not a retirement road one horse town so no it's not something from Dehli.

Wrong,wrong and wrong.

Mines 5 years old having served half it's time as a cab and will be replaced in the not too distant future, not a 10 year old metrocab that is hanging.

If it was a smelly bucket it would be off, but it's still showroom condition.

That's the end result of oversupply, something if you'd read properly in the threads I've been warning you about, great that dereg thing isn't it, it makes it easy for cheap seats to sit down.

It's a Passat, happy now are we.

listen i dont care how old youre car is
its you who cares how old mine is
i have never run a car as a taxi and i doubt you have run a purpose built.
my own car is newer than yours by a few years but i know it would make a poor replacement for a purpose built, becouse metros and tx1's are chassis built with very basic engines, they are much more hard wearing than your monocoche car with its computer controlled engine,in short purpose builts are agriculturul based all you need do to bring a tired one up to scratch is fix the engines swap some running gear any bodywork and bobs your uncle,as good as new.
so it will last much longer than a car, there defo not perfect,tx2 and 4 have crap engines.
btw i have both tx1 and metro.
the best taxi ever built imo is metro ttt
good solid chassis, fiber body no rust and the best engine ever to go in a cab the cracking toyota unit, even beats the nissan

oh and another thing what about youre passengers that require a wheelchiar car,you will have trouble getting them in a passat,or dont you care

What about the ambulantly disabled, who prefer to sit their bum in first and don't want to be man handled into a cab they couldn't get into without assistance or don't you care either :? A mixed fleet that provides a variety of choices at ranks is by far the best option for any council. I don't think age should be a barrier providing the vehicle is excellently maintained, clean, comfortable, safe and doesn't sound like a tank or spew loads of black cr** out the exhaust, but that is just my opinion :D
