Rant removed, I still stand by it but it probably isn't fair to post it.

For what it's worth I don't have a problem with that either.

Perhaps we should ban alcohol too. The money saved not only on medical needs for the alcoholics and alcohol related deceases, but, the money saved in benefits given to these people who drink their lives away would be enormous. Not to mention the money saved that is used wasting police time, alcohol related crime and keeping the idiots out of trouble by locking them up. Also the lack of income tax not generated cos they can't work. The days off when people call in sick cos they've drank too much the day before. Alcohol is by far a bigger burden on the tax payer I'm sure, but, I could be wrong

Maybe you wern't listening to the radio yesterday, or perhaps you were. There was a report from some group or other wanting all alcohol related advertising stopped because of the very reasons you state and also their fact that kids as young as 10-11 were already drinking around 10 units a week.

Would passive drinking be where you walk in a pub and drink someone else's beer? :D

A report in today's Daily Telegraph.

"Fewer heart attacks after smoking ban"

The smoking ban has led to an estimated 10% fall in the number of heart attacks, according to researchers. (England)

A 14% fall in Scotland, where the ban has been in place longer.

Maybe the 14% that would normally have died from those heart attacks simply died from some other causes..or more likely they topped themselves due to the severe melancholy that this present nanny government induces in all of us..

Why cant the government give us our freedoms back..let people smoke in cabs if they want to and if they dont want to then they can use a no smoking vehicle. Its a perfectly fair Idea as the non smokers will give their business to the non Smoking cabby and vice-versa, same applies to Pubs.

How much better this country would if we were free from such tyrannys and nannying, a happy nation is going to get itself out of a recession much more quickly than a depressed nation is, indeed happy people tend to live longer anyways...so why try and crush the life out of us and our freedoms.
