on Saturday I suffered my worst case of this although it is getting more and more frequent we lose quite a few fares every week through this usually opportunist but some through use of scanners to intercept radio calls.

Saturdays was a £100 wheelchair job lost I suspect that when the customer first made enquiries this taxi firm probably took details and wrote them down into their booking sheet even though it was only an enquiry. The customer assumed the driver was from my firm and when i turned up the driver got very aggressive and grabbed the passenger quickly wheeling him into the vehicle at which point the customer backed down and I had to go away empty having driven 15 miles to the pick up point !

Does this happen in other areas and do the police and lo's turn a blind eye to it round your way. Our local police say it is a matter for trading standards the licensing section say that it is out of their remit unless a customer has made the complaint

You don't have much luck, from aggresive fellow drivers shouting abuse and trying to keep you off the rank, abusive taxi drivers on the Motorway gesticulating at you, and now this.

Invoice the customer for your time and costs.

If he doesnt pay within a certain period, take him to the small claims court.

He entered a contract with you when you were booked.

For a contract to exist in law doesn't a "consideration" have to be paid? such as a deposit?

Doesn't your firm have a radio or telephone that you could use to find out why the other driver was there in the 1st place if you'd been assigned it already?

What kind of response would you expect to get from the other company?
This has happened a few times in the limo game. The only difference is that with limos, most of the time the job is paid before hand so when another firm hijacks the job they end up doing it for nothing.

 I read it wrong, I thought he was from the same firm, I suspect if he had to go 15 miles to pick up that the punter thought he wasn't coming, especially if he's one of the snail gang and rang for another cab 15 miles is 45 minutes if you don't have Sennafoot

Just to update you the customer was very unimpressed with the actions of this other driver who apparently went on to upset the bride and nearly ruined the wedding so the council LO will be receiving complaints from both the customer and me !

The customer also offered me compensation but I turned it down as I feel that the customer was as much a victim in this as myself
