Taxi Driver Robbed By Three Men In Cinnamon Brow

Thursday 17th September 2009

A taxi driver has been robbed by three men in Cinnamon Brow.

The 59-year-old man had been parked in the car park of a pub at around 1.30am on Monday when he was attacked by the three robbers.

One of the men opened the driver’s door and tried to drag him from the cab while a second man got into the passenger seat to try to push him out.

All three robbers finally managed to pull the victim from the taxi and stole a mobile phone out of the glove box and a money belt containing a two-figure sum of cash before running off along Ballater Drive in the direction of the Grasmere Avenue estate.

The taxi driver sustained a minor injury to his right arm during his ordeal.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the robbery to come forward and have released descriptions of the three men including an e-fit of one of the robbers.

He is described as white, aged between 18 and 20, around 6ft tall, of large build with short black hair and spoke with a Warrington accent.

The other two are a little shorter and thinner in build. One was wearing a light grey hooded top while the second was wearing a dark hooded top.

This is the second attack on a taxi driver in two weeks. A 46-year-old driver was robbed at knifepoint by three men he stopped to pick up on Wildespool Causeway in the early hours of August 31.

Anyone with any information about the offence or the offenders is asked to call DC Richard Kennedy at Warrington CID on 0845 4580000 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
