Taxi firm sets up second base


A NORTH-EAST taxi company has expanded by setting up a second base on Teesside.

Middlesbrough Borough Cars (MBC) has set up a base in Thornaby, called Stockton Boro Cars, which is expected to employ up to 150 drivers and control staff by the end of the year.

It comes in addition to its £3m Middlesbrough headquarters, which is the base for more than 600 drivers, control staff and management, operating in a 20-mile radius of the town.

It also houses a gymnasium and training centre, offering BTEC and NVQ courses in passenger safety and taxi transport.

The expansion into the new base, on the site of the former Supreme Knitwear Factory in Thornaby, comes after MBC acquired four local taxi operators – JPM Taxis of Eston; T&J Taxis, of South Bank; Cleveland Cars, of Middlesbrough; and Mandale Taxis, Thornaby – in the past two years. MBC was set up in 1986 by Mohammed Bashir, and his two brothers, who have since left the business.

He has been helped in the company’s expansion and acquisitions by Yorkshire Bank’s Tees Valley Financial Solutions Centre (FSC), in Stockton.

Ms Toots ..... get this stopped straight away!!!

With the Btec & NVQ now including pumping iron & treadmills, the government must have a secret plan to kill us all off in the gym to limit driver numbers & get them out the sh*t.

Surely you must have some pull with the NVQ people to stop this coming slaughter of drivers??

Sorry I can't possibly recommend the prevention of drivers getting fit. I have to say the fitter the better as far as I am concerned
