Paul Sutton, chairman of the association, said industrial action would be held on a busy Saturday. He said: “We’re going to ask drivers to stop at noon on a Saturday and just sit in the ranks, to start 24 hours of no service.”

Refusing to drive a passenger without a good reason is a breach of conditions here. ( I doubt if a strike would be considered good reason)
Probably obstruction as well.

I'll bet it won't last an hour, never mind a day.

You're support is overwhelming these guys !!

Cynicism at it's best ](*,)

Sad but true. They plan to sit on the ranks so that those not striking (or having a day off lol) cant use them. They obviously know themselves that others will fill their boots if they stay at home.

Maybe this kind of protest will have the effect of reducing taxi numbers. Because if they are sitting on the rank and refusing fares the council may decide to take their licenses off of them.

The leader of Southend council at a press conference yesterday announced the immediate stopping of issuing Hack plates for 3 years and no resumption until an unmet demand survey deemed it necessary. This comes just 4 months after GMBPDB involvement, the promise of 20000 drunks let loose on a Saturday night somewhat concentrated their attention.

" this council once we were involved very quickly changed their tune, along with excellent support from the Southend LTDA ( :? )and by harrassing the politicians this was achieved.

Next a multitude of issues, Ranks. Testing Criteria etc. all of which will be addressed in the same manner this was a help but there is much more to be done the membership in the town will ensure it is!!"

Got similiar problems in your area ghet the pros in now

Guess who?

The clue is in the spelling of 'get'.
