Hunt for thugs who robbed 73-year-old taxi driver in Skewen

POLICE are hunting a trio of thugs who attacked a 73-year-old cabbie and stole money from him. It happened behind Jeffrey's Stores in New Road, Skewen, at around 5.55am today.

Detective Inspector Jason Davies of Neath and Port Talbot CID said the driver had picked up four men from High Street in Swansea at 5.40am before driving via Winch Wen and Llansamlet to Skewen.

"One of the men was dropped off near the junction of Crymlyn Road and Winifred Road before the taxi proceeded along New Road, turning left into Caenant Terrace and Penbryn Road," said Mr Davies.

"At this point the taxi driver was assaulted and the three men made off with a supermarket carrier bag containing a small quantity of cash, spectacles and an A to Z map."

Mr Davies said an investigation was under way to identify the four men. "We would particularly like to trace the man who was dropped off at Winifred Road prior to the assault taking place. He needs to come forward in order for him to be eliminated from our inquiries.

"The driver has been left shaken by this incident and I have a dedicated team assigned to tracing and arresting those responsible."

All four men who were picked up in Swansea were white. The front seat passenger wore a light coloured top and was aged in his 20s. The taxi involved is a white Ford Galaxy registration RJ53 OPF.

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

73, is that I got in the car and this bloke who was old was fair game for a freebie, lets hope someone feels the need to castrate these ppl assuming the story is correct

Think Terminator, I want your cash, your glasses and your map book

Err no! I think someone didn't have their payin for the week myself, story is riddled and I've seen bullshit before to gain benefits or not have the payin, one time the driver left £140 on the dashboard and the window went through, suprise suprise  and another who plain needed an excuse to sign on claimed a knife attack.

Best left to the ex army pro's innit, someone who can disable an attacker and make them wish they'd got someone else, complete horse ***t imo, why doesn't he take the pension and take it easy for the last 7 yrs of his life instead of putting himself up for abuse from ferrel ppl.
