doubtless this case (and the soham murders) will mean a new CRB check will be introduced for PH/HC drivers (but not for PCV drivers?) once some HMG plank thinks thay can screw - ooh, maybe £150? - out of us for it...

I don't know what people expect.....we cannot be judged on crimes we haven't yet committed......someone is to blame for this obviously.....the government?

oh no, it wont be thier fault...

(dont forget ian huntley was school caretaker, and this case is a nursery employee)

i bet someone in an office at westminster (on a bloody good wage) is right now coming up with a scheme to lockdown anyone remotely connected with childcare or transport, it wont matter how much it costs cos the cost will be paid by the applicant/worker/taxi driver

How do you suggest we weed out those criminals who havent yet committed any crime and are presumably innocent......timecop perhaps?

well most of it internet-led (kiddy porn) - and this case certainly was so theres your start - 100% monitoring of all internet traffic to badge holders PCs via IP address.....

BTW, it isnt for ME to suggest anything/system, HMG will have hordes of idle hands on standby, there will be a quango with a CEO (pension included) and when it goes tits up there will be a golden handshake and no blame...

maybe GCHQ own "Echalon" is being setup as we speak

Quote:
Echelon intercepts and processes international communications via passing communications satellites. It is part of a global surveillance system that is now over 50 years old. The US National Security Agency (NSA) and Britain's Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) run the system.

The purpose of the network is to collect signals intelligence (Sigint) by covertly intercepting foreign and international communications. Other parts of the Sigint system intercept messages from the Internet, from undersea cables, from radio transmissions, from secret equipment installed inside embassies, or use orbiting satellites to monitor signals anywhere on the earth's surface. The system includes stations run by the United States, Britain, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

They can access and process almost all of the worlds satellite communications, automatically analysing and relaying it to 'customers' who may be continents away. Not all of the stations use the same codename. But all are part of the same integrated global network using the same equipment and methods to extract information and intelligence illicitly from billions of messages every day, all over the world.

Under a secret agreement signed in 1947, called UKUSA, the English-speaking countries agreed to share responsibility for overseeing surveillance in different parts of the world. Britain's zone included Africa and Europe, east to the Ural Mountains of the former USSR; Canada covered northern latitudes and Polar regions; Australia covered Oceania.

Are you suggesting that because I am a PH driver and have a CRB in place that should allow them to monitor my pc

I wouldnt know, maybe he didnt BUT, the fact is, its a nice wagon to jump on...

add childcare and transport together and you soon end up at taxi/PH drivers given the many thousands of school contracts undertaken daily, so lets lump em all together.......(in HMG thinking)

they would conviently forget the 2 cases mentioned include education+nursery employees who proved a major embarrasment for the standard CRB checks - highlighting the biggest problem i.e. it only shows up offenders and doesnt monitor on an ongoing basis.

No, much easier than that....immediately arrest and question anyone who would appear to be the "last person you'd expect" to do something bad....or those who "keep themselves to themselves". Whenever there's a serious crime reported and the neighbours of the perpetrator are interviewed, they always seem to confirm that it's those types who have done it...
