Taxi Driver Had Eyes Gouged And Ring Stolen

A robber who stole a Hull taxi driver's wedding ring and takings whilst his accomplices gouged his eyes has been locked up.
Victim Neville Huntley was left temporarily blinded in one eye following the horrific attack in Bransholme on May 2.
Andrew Conman, 32, together with three other men who have not been found, subjected Mr Huntley to a violent assault in which his eyes were gouged, his head bitten and punched.
Police are appealing for help in tracing the three other attackers.
The men hailed the cab in Carr Lane in the city centre at 1.45am and askedMr Huntley to take them to Topcliffe Garth, Hull Crown Court heard.
When the taxi driver, who worked for Six O Cars, on Walton Street, west Hull, arrived at their destination Conman grabbed his Sat Nav and pulled his wedding ring off his finger as the men in the back of the car grabbed him and attacked him.
Conman stole his takings and his wallet as his associates attacked the driver.
They then left him collapsed by his cab and he was rescued by fellow taxi drivers after he sent a distress call.
A jury at the court found Conman, of Topcliff Garth, Bransholme, guilty of robbery after in an unanimous verdict.
Recorder Andrew Campbell QC sentenced him to six years imprisonment.
