Taxi Driver Shot Several Times As He Exited Home

And this breaking news, a man is clinging to life after he was shot several times late this evening in front of his home on Cairo Street. The taxi driver, Jason Cain, had apparently just exited his house and was heading to start his car when someone approached him and shot him at least nine times. News Five is just back from the scene and spoke off camera to a neighbour who helped him.

“I reach home like five-thirty so. I just went and when I reach home I talk to my sista and thing and when I di put up my bike I hear bang bang bang and I seh dah weh dis. I shub my door and I tell everybody stay inside, noh come out. So when di shot dehn done and I come out and peep, I noh see nobody out yah. So when I come back out again dah den I see di crowd out yah den dat tell me somebody get hurt and when I come out I si di guy mi di lay down by iuh vehicle and ih mi deh pan ih belly.”

“Well, when I pass ah I think dat dis guy was inside ih house and came out and den ih mussy start dah car cause when I pass yah dah car never mi start, nobody was in di car I think.”

“Engine never mi di run”

Voice of Neighbour
“No, dat noh mi di run. So probably he mussy come out yah and start dah car and dat mussy mi happen.”

“You saw di bullet holes in him?”

Voice of Neighbour
“Yeah, eena ih chest yah so and he tell me like eena ih foot.”

Marion Ali
“He tell you he saw who shot him?”

Voice of Neighbour
“Well, ih neva give me no kinda information. Ih just seh somebody just pull up pan ah and just shot ah. Dat dah all weh di man tell me and den ih just relax ihself.”

Marion Ali
“And you helped him out?”

Voice of Neighbour
“So me and my neighbour we tell di police we di ker di man one time. We noh di waste no time so we take him out and assist him to di hospital and put ah pan di bed.”

Police are now interviewing residents of the area to try and solve this latest shooting.
