What a horrible row.Sounds like the anthem for some tin pot dictator.
Still if Blair gets in it will be.

I heard a cracking interview on BBC News24. They were asking some German guy about Blair. His answer was short and to the point.

"Britain always seems to use its' opt-outs on a lot of EU legislation. They won't get votes or a Presidency because you can't opt-out of the laws but opt-in to the jobs."

Summed the current administration up beautifully I thought.

Maybe it is all part of the plan. Give the top job to a brit and then they will have to accept the EU laws and the Euro.

Rule and dominate by the back door?

Unelected goverment?

President Blair in charge of ALL of Europe?

Will he be questioned by the EU over his taking us into Iraq?

I do hope so

It's a valid idea and something I wouldn't put past them. Especially since they kept asking the same question in the ROI till they got the answer they wanted.

For me, though, I only need to watch something like Trawlermen to have my views about Europe crystallised. A British fisherman fishing in our waters goes to jail for catching 'too many' fish. Absolutely ridiculous.

From my shop in lowestoft I used to supply the local fishing boats (before the EU did away with them). The situation was even worse.
Boats were somehow expected to only catch certain species.Any others and various shell fish etc had to be thrown back into the sea even though dead.
The entire spanish fleet had about the same number of inspectors as Lowestoft alone, and so called flag ships could by painting a union jack on the side of the funnel, could with a foreign crew and foreign owners catch fish on the British quota and land them abroad.
Foreign boats caught fishing against the rules by the British customs were bought into the harbour and prevented from leaving by a customs boat. This tied up the customs boat so other foreign fishing vessels could have a field day untill the court case a few days later resulted in a token fine and the foreign boats sailed away again.
Compare the efforts of the Icelandic fishermen some years back to keep foreign boats out of their fishing grounds to our sorry efforts, and more recently the french fishermen blockading ports to protest against quota cuts and our feeble surrender and you can see why there is now no longer a sizeable fishing fleet.
Rule Britannia?.

why In fecks names do we need EU Opt outs?? As I remember it I never even had the chance to Opt In to the EU...Isnt it about time we all had the opportunity to vote as to whether or not we want to be part of the EU , they should do that at least every 25 years in all the EU nations to be fair to all Generations of Voters..

The EU may be lots of things..but the one thing it certainly is'nt is a democracy.

Accounta what? That word doesn't even seem to exist in the modern day government.
