Taxi driver attacked in Houghton

A taxi driver was the victim of a vicious attack soon after he arrived to pick up a fare in Houghton Regis just after midnight on Sunday, September 27.
Details have only just been released by police on the incident in Brentwood Close.
A gang of around 15 people confronted the driver as he arrived to collect someone from an address in the road.
When he pulled up, the group began to argue over who had called the cab.
Suddenly, one man punched the taxi driver in the face, leaving him with eye injuries.
The man then threw a bottle at the taxi and ripped off the magnetic stickers on the vehicle.
Beds Police describe the offender as black, aged around 24, about 5ft 7ins tall, of medium build and he was wearing a baseball cap.
A police spokesperson said: "We take an extremely serious view on assaults to taxi drivers who are simply going about their business, sometimes in very difficult circumstances.
"We are keen to apprehend this man. There was a large number of people there that evening, some of whom may not have agreed with what they saw and I urge them or any other witnesses to get in contact."
