No they were limited.

In Brum at the turn of the 19th to 20th century there were livery stables, one in Bristol Street & one at the bottom of Sheepcote Street. There is no trace left of the one in Bristol Street, but the building & yard of the one in Sheepcote Street is still there.

So 'orses could be changed in those times, but I suspect when the TPC 1847 became law, this was not possible.

But I wasn't around then, so I don't really know. I wonder if hours restrictions were impossed in those days & if anyone transgressed & was summonsed by the courts.

get real, they still stuffed kiddies up chimneys to clean em then didnt they?

For regulating the number and securing the fitness of the animals to be allowed to draw an omnibus, and for the removal therefrom of unfit animals:

Yes but these are animals drawing omnibuses, not 'orses drawing Hackney Carriages.

Like I said the TPC 1847 provided that bye-laws could be adopted to prevent proprietors & drivers knackering 'orses.

No, I'm suggesting that animals being unfit as in this Act would seem to apply only to an omnibus, not Hackney Carriages.

You're winding me up!!

Have you attached the last page to the previous four pages to make it look like a complete document, or is this all kosher?

That's better at 6 (a).

But it's only Sefton & there's no date on this one.

Landau's....... In Sefton they wanted to Licence them as taxis... which did not happen... because if they had beed licensed as hackney.... than they would have to comply with all the rules and regulations.... such as.... they could not refuse any person wishing to hire them ...... after all there is only one hackney Licence in this country....

So they were licensed as a omnibus.... which is a restrictive licence on its own....
Ps.... Liverpool licence them under a O licence......
