I think it depends who you ask !!!!

As I am one of the new plates and have had a radio since I got the plate I haven`t really worked without one.

Thats right, most of the NEW Black Van drivers are ex PH jocks.


Out of approx 37 new licenses issued I reckon the breakdown is 15 ex PH drivers 20 existing Hackney drivers who rented and 2 brand new to the trade.
Mr JD, I would say that there is an increase of 2 then.
Under the terms of ex-Chester LA there is usually an unmet demand survey and they would of given out another 4 off the waiting list. Which means the 2 newbies may have got one anyway. I know that doesn't help when all the ranks are full, but I think the lack of punters is the biggest problem.
The other possible problem would be the extra 15 ex-PH drivers may have been replaced or not by the PH operators, so there may be a gross increase in numbers. I suspect that the swell in numbers happened before de-reg anyway, but I may be wrong.

I can't believe that Chester have so few taxis and private hire to be honest I would have thought they had more than they do
