I quite agree, but how did someone like that get put in charge of a helicopter, and if he had crashed on the taxi would the drivers family think highly of our armed forces?

i very much doubt it

If it had hit the cab then we would have all been shocked and mega pi**ed off.

But thankfully they didn't kill anyone else, only, regrettably, themselves. :sad:

More than likely what killed em was the MOD telling the mechanic to fit a fuel pump from an 83 Cavalier rather than fitting the proper one, sorry chaps but I don't see how a qualified pilot ditches on friendly soil for any other reason than mechanical failure, ok it was 5 ft, but 5ft to a pro is 60 inches away from disaster.

The Officer who's taking the case said it was more likely to have flown 30ft above the Taxi and not the 5ft the driver said.
