I have always said that the Fat Sam's operation is illegal and should have been shut down long ago. It doesn't make every PH a lawbreaker though, does it? Just the ones who are involved.
Having a go at a guy who isn't breaking any law (except the laws of economics and good sense  ) won't help to end the Fat Sam's situation. It could even weaken your own credibility.

All semantics, Joe public think he’s a taxi, He also does! Its just not the true definition of the word, but only 5% of ppl actually know that.
He is guilty of no more than using the same language as Joe Public.

At least his Adverts getting plenty of attention...in here at least.

He might just make as much profit by charging more and doing less and that would also reduce his milage costs and bring his blood pressure down...... #-o

He'll need an operators licence and a telecom one as well iirc, he's not entitled to mention the word Taxi in any advert he may place, I suspect he's done it out of ignorance rather than malice, he will go skint, or if he doesn't he'll be one busy boy taking £150pd and using £110pd worth of fuel, personally I've lived a price war for the last 18 years and it does nobody any favours at all, all you end up with is a miserable driver who begrudges the cheap fare, dirty car, hammered car, and just keeping eveyone else a bit wealthier, if thats a 15 mile trip for £5 he's offering, that'd be £25 on my meter, 15 miles there, 15 miles back, one gallon of fuel @ £4.70p, 30p per trip less the car costs, £&*)er.

In Scotland the operators licence is the plate.
No fixed base required and no radio licence if using a mobile phone.
Vehicle must not carry any signage suggesting it is available for hire (except what is issued by the LA).
Your right about the word taxi and as I said earlier, I think he'll spend a lot of time working and making b*gger all for his trouble.
Thanks for the clarification M8, it seems a good common sense set up for an indie.
