As i understand it, and i'm happy to be corrected. We have access to bus lanes because we have a meter and thus unlike PH who work to a fixed price or £X to the mile our price is subject to variation because of traffic conditions etc.

You have access to the bus lanes because in the 1970's Taxi Drivers blocked them in protest. PHV's are now clearly identfied so there is no reason to prevent access. In any event many PH believe the current situation is unlawful hence the M4 action. You can watch the latest campaign film.

Last year in London 140 people were sexually assaulted in illegal minicabs. The Metropolitan Police Service and other agencies are working to eradicate the problem of illegal cabs, but there are still some out there.

That may be so, but many of these touts who can also become sexual predators are FULLY LICENSED by the PCO.

They may work for a firm or a satelite office and do his own bit of touting on the side.

As for Worboys that was ONE case in how many years :?:

Sorry, you can not compare the two.

I'm not comparing the two, just pointing out that classing the vast majority of licensed London PH drivers in the same boat as the licensed touting scum is, IMO, akin to saying all London cabbies are on a par with the scum Worboys.

Both are incorrect.

As for the sexual predators fully licensed by the PCO, well that's not the fault of the licensed London PH trade, and don't they have the same level of CRB check as you? :?

As Mr acabbie says, I've yet to hear anything official coming out from the London Minicab trade about the scale of touting, or is that because the company proprietors are quite happy to turn a blind eye, because they still collect their radio fees and the drivers can top up their crap money by touting?

I think the proprietors do complain/moan/lobby against the touts, but instead of doing it in the trade press, trying to big themselves up, the do it to the PCO and gov.

It's worth pointing out also that it was the GMB that ensured Red Ken didn't allow the PH bosses an extension to the deadline for allowing PH drivers to work before their CRB came back.

I can't see why the PH trade get the blame for illegal cabs. :?

An illegal cab is a cab that's not legal, not a PH that's not legal.

errm, you said ;

Pretty sure the GMB led the crusade to get minicabs license, as opposed to many in the black cab trade who fought it.

Don said in a shouty type manor;

THE GMB WERE NOT INVOLVED UNTIL A LATER DATE IN REGARD TO LICENSING

It was the same mushes under a different name.

Reminds me of an association that said they amended the 1985 act when they weren't in existence at that time.

Black Cab drivers in a 'throw toys from pram' shocker. In other news Vesuvius seen smoking. Pliny the Elder urges calm.

So, Taxis should be able to use Bus Lanes? Where in the words Bus and Lane does it suggest you have any more right over any different vehicles, other than buses, to use it?

The Private Hire trade, whether you like it or not, do exactly the same type of work as the Black Cab trade. The only differences tend to be knitwear, stupid glasses, anachronistic attitude towards everything and the intellect of a toddler (you know, while we're doing sweeping generalisations).

So you did the knowledge? Big deal. Suggesting that's why you should be allowed the use of Bus Lanes is a premise thinner than Captain Anorexic's Anorexic Institute recently opened in Anorexia, Switzerland.

Quote:
Thats simple, we invest 3 years of study and commit to a DSA test, wheelchair test, we can speak English, we know where we are going, we have to drive purpose built vehicles that take wheelchairs.

Three years? To do the knowledge?

DSA Test? A separate test to drive your sheds and learn how to put fires out when the shed bursts into flames?

Speak English? ALL of you?

Wheelchair test? Because you need it.

Purpose built? Yes, please! I LOVE being told how I'm going to earn my living and what vehicle I'll do it in. What purpose are they built for, by the way? They sure as hell can't take all wheelchairs.

You can have a dozen campaigns, we'll argue against them. Your lot are less organised than the Scottish football team.

The Mayor has already said NO.

If Minicabs are admitted to Bus Lanes, it'll be abused.
Thousands will rush out and buy £400 Astra's (Just like Harrigey Cars fleet) register them as minicabs and abuse the priviledge, just like thousands do with the congestion charge zone.

But we've got the biggest influence ever on our side, and that's the Bus Companies.

As one Metroline driver put it to me the other week, 'I'd rather a dozen Black Cabs in front of me than a single Minicab, you know what side of the road to drive on in Britain'

Couldn't agree more.

Anyway 'Dizzy Destroyer' tell us all about yourself, otherwise folks might think you're on here for a wind up.

Don't be shy.

Very Big deal.

That’s why PH work all the hours god sends, and I do a three night week.

It's called quality, and not surprisingly it often brings out this vicious streak of jealousy from the PH side of the trade, as can be seen from your diatribe.

But.

That’s why you work for a company and have to pay them for your work.

That’s why you have to be a good boy and not upset the boss.

That’s why the Police are constantly investigating the crooks that run Glasgow PH.
