This is a story from a London radio presenter on LBC 97.3.
He's neither pro Taxi or Minicab from my listening experiences.

Hi there, hope you are well and earning enough.

I heard this tale on the radio this morning and thought I would share it with those of you that don’t listen to LBC at silly o’clock.

The excellent night time presenter on LBC is a fella named Anthony Davis and he has recently returned from a trip to the states.
This morning he told of the journey home from LHR in a pre-booked mini cab.
As he was boarding his flight from the states the person that was supposed to pick him up from the airport called to let him know that they wouldn’t be able to make it, so he called the only mini cab number that he had to hand , which happened to be , in his words,” the biggest and most reputable mini cab firm in London”.

Giving them his arrival time and flight number. He was quoted a price of £70 to his home in SW1 !
When he cleared customs the driver was nowhere to be seen and after a phone call or two he located him in a different part of the building.
They left the airport and set off on the M4 to his address in SW1.

As they went down the empty motorway they were stopped by the police for driving in the bus lane ( \:D/ ) and Mr Davis was left in the mini cab whilst the driver was dealt with by the police.

When he returned the driver told him that he had been issued a fine of £30 which the driver thought was quite cheap!

They then continued on to their destination where he was told the journey would now cost £79.50 due to the parking charge at the airport.

He paid up as he was tired from his flight but now plans to write to the company to protest about the high cost of the journey.

Now it’s been a while since I ranked up at LHR but I am sure that a trip to SW1 wouldn’t cost much more than £60 even on a weekend morning.

So the next time you hear your punters saying that we are too dear to and from LHR maybe you should tell them about this.

Also it’s good to hear that the police are now nicking a few of the mini cab drivers who are breaking the law on the M4.

Thats me done for now, I’ll be back soon with more from the world of Del Boy.

It is obviously easier to nick people when there are no cars around. What was the wa**er doing using the bus lane when there were no other vehicles around? That is just plain stupid.
