The Hackney trade is a very specialist trade when it comes to legislation. It is legislation that is uncommon to most solicitors & there are only four or five in the country that are worth their fees when representing the cab trade.

Mr BB is a senior member of the GMB PDB, does he come across as someone lacking in Hackney knowledge?

That said, when it comes to legal advice, it is incumbent on all of us to give our views but point folks to specialist lawyers should they be needed.

I'm pretty sure the GMB PDB would look to use a licensing lawyer rather than a employment one.

I thought the modus operandi was everybody out

I'd keep it far more simple than all of the above.

The GMB has Terry on it's books, that would be the decider for me.

"One for the money, two for the show, three to get ready, now go . . .”

Now, now Terrance is alright.

Interesting "squabble" I like Mr Hildreth and Mr Casey, both nice chaps. The GMB site is very hard on the eyes, that small orange writing makes it "busy" like Grannies old rug. I couldnt find the ££ for membership either (before my eyes hurt) from the colour scheme. I would change the template/colours.

Now for the NTA, this individual membership thing, well it is no use if you have a TOA (whether good or bad) already covering your licensing area. So you can't join the NTA as an individual even if your none too keen on your "President" of the local TOA. I understand the logic for that, but it needs to be addressed.

The taxi trade needs to be represented and too often old grudges or clashes will prevent people joining a local TOA cos Fred nicked Bobs horse in 1925 and noe he's running the TOA.

Just some thoughts ....

Very well said, but having been in the nta, money would be better left in any ones pocket

Very well thanks, our common enemy still hasn't changed or challenged anything despite all the hot air coming from NW1.

I suspect that's the way it will stay for many years to come.

I think it should be more worrying who is bank rolling the M4 Bus lane Campaign :?

So he's senior too, yet criticises seniors in the NTA.

I've seen a so called specialist licensing lawyer performing in court who was not up to speed with Hackney legislation.

Lamentable!!

BTW, WTF does PDB stand for?

Professional Drivers Branch.

I'm sure it applies in Mr BB's area of Brighton, but I'm not so sure it should apply to his esteemed London colleague’s lot.

I bet he wasn't instructed by the GMB.
