I agree withh CC. it was quite funny reading the mud slinging on about page 4 but now it's going round in circles.

 SO! sorry so.Do you consider yourself an experienced driver or are you a newbie. In regards to opinions being valid ,they all are, don't you AGREE.

I would agree with Sussex's opinion wouldn't you :P

Having been driving for 22 years i'd say i'm pretty experienced.

Of course i agree all opinions are valid, doesn't make then right!

Let me ask you one thing about bus lanes. What do you fear from NOT having access to them ? Do you worry that PH drivers will lose lucrative account work ? Do you get concerned that the public see you as an inferior service ? What is it that makes you want access to bus lanes so badly ?

You don't work on a metered principle so being stuck in traffic has no bearing on the fare! The jobs are distributed via radio so i would imagine the nearest job goes to the nearest car thereby removing the need to get there in a hurry; indeed by virtue of how PH work and the control being in contact with the account that in itself would negate the need to hurry as you can call the account and tell them how long their car will be.

You mention a level playing field but i fail to see of what real benefit it would be to you other than cause more congestion in the bus lanes and no doubt endear you to the travelling public.
It may not have a bearing on a PH fare but it certainly has one on his next fare, if he's stuck in traffic all day he's not going to make much money is he. What would you say if they turned round and said HC can use the bus lanes but not when empty? Then your meter would be off. What disadvantage would it be to you if PH were allowed to use the bus lanes if the general public then stuck to the law and stayed out of them? Why would people who profess to make loads of money be so a***d hoping someone else doesn't.

Dagger, agree with most of your comments, and recognise that we all try to protect our livelihood ,and firmly believe that this is the reason for the London hackneys objection's.but we look at the bigger picture and that is providing Londoners with a choice of efficient transportation that ALL groups can access and travel without unnecessary delays,or restrictive attachments limiting time of travel

i've said my bit on it, as already stated, we could go around in circles and quite frankly......life's too short!

Good luck with your challenges, ultimately it's out of my hands and no doubt yours too.

I agree there are only so many variations of;

i) Black cabs don't want licensed PH in the bus lanes,
ii) Licensed PH demand equal access to the bus lanes,
iii) Some outsiders can't understand why licensed PH aren't allowed in the bus lanes,
iv) Some outsiders can well understand understand why licensed PH aren't allowed in the bus lanes.

So maybe we should just post letters.

I'm a ii) and iii). :D

Nope, the LED one topped it.

I just think it's amusing that a handful of individuals, some with ulterior motives, really think they are going to take this plan forward despite TFL, The Mayor and 99.9% of London Boroughs saying otherwise.

You had it with a certain individual up North, we have it with 3 individuals down here, the same end result applies!

And that's way before any form of consultation begins.

Even more interesting is the knowledge of those that purport to represent our opposition. :D

The motive is to get their punters from A to B as quick as they can, and take as many of said punters off the black cab trade. Especially the corporate accounts.

I find that quite incredible, the methods used seem to be "if we don't get in nobody should be in" hence the bile aimed at the taxi trade.

There is a solution if the do want in, sit down and study the knowledge.

That aside, what's the driver turnover in the minicab trade as opposed to the taxi trade? Is it still 70/80% with a hardcore of around 20/30% ?

Then perhaps the GMB should be pushing for higher standards for minicab drivers in London, but of course that wouldn't be sexy enough to attract members.

Why should they be pushing for higher standards for PH CC? If the London public carry on using minicabs driven by romanian orphans from the holding pen that are apparently more expensive than HC and are constantly being driven the long way round before being sexually assaulted then there is only 2 conclusions - They must all be thick as **** or it's all a load of bull.

Do they though?

Or the lines of empty Minicabs sitting outside of Minicab offices an illusion?

£30 a day is good money for a Romanian.
