Funny enough someone asked a similar question on here five and a half years ago.

My answer then, is my answer now.

Further to my previous posts over the issue of why TDO is called TDO, not T&PHDO, can I just pass on the views of Her Majesty's Government.

When up-dating the CRB proceedure, they came out with this definition of a Taxi Driver.

"taxi driver" means a driver of a hackney carriage vehicle who is required to be licensed by a person pursuant to section 46 of the Town Police Clauses Act 1847 and section 59 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976 or pursuant to section 8 of the Metropolitan Public Carriage Act 1869, or a driver of a private hire vehicle who is required to be licensed by a person under section 51 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976 or the Plymouth City Council Act 1975;

If it's good enough for the Queen, then it's good enough for me.

GMB AND RMT PROFESSIONAL DRIVERS JOIN FORCES TO DEMAND FOR A PUBLIC ENQUIRY ON THE RUNNING OF THE PUBLIC CARRIAGE OFFICE (PCO)

London’s Hackney Cab drivers and Private Hire drivers are joining forces in their demand for an inquiry into the running of the Public Carriage Office (PCO) which regulates the London’s mini cabs cabbies and black cabs. Both sets of drivers are unhappy with the PCO’s structure and position on many issues concerning the industry in the Capital including:

1. How Private Hire drivers who are unable to speak English are able to pass the vital typographical and other tests and checks.
2. Why the ban on driver safety shields when drivers are regularly attacked and even killed in their cabs.
3. Why fit CCTV cameras in vehicles with no sound recording?
4. Why does the PCO alert Private Hire Operators offices of the dates when they will carry out regulatorary checks which gives the operators time to sort out paperwork and conceal any illegal conduct such as the hiding the employment of unlicensed and illegal drivers?
5. Driver standards. The killer on the ‘Knowledge’ was already a badged PH driver.
6. The too comfortable relationship with the major Private Hire Businesses.
7. The PCO’s acceptance of poor standards of driver paperwork.

Terry Flanagan, GMB National Organiser of professional drivers said, ”Both sides of the London Passenger Trade, mini cabs and black cabs, joining together on the vital issues of the running and standards of the PCO will be a much stronger force than from just one which would be attacked as been biased towards one side or another.”

Eddie Lambert, Chair of the RMT London Taxis’ Branch said, “By coming together on these specific issues we are letting the PCO know we are not going to be ignored by them and we will force them to address the flawed way that they operate. We will challenge the entire PCO operation as it is currently structured. Public Safety is too important to be used as a political play thing and we are a demanding a PCO that is genuinely fit for purpose.”

People should remember Mark White (Nightman) is a very angry volatile individual.

He spends his life looking for fights and confrontation on many taxi trade forums, all under the guise of being passionate about the trade.

A man full of stress, which one day will see his picture mounted on the Heathrow canteen wall.

You mean [edited by admin]?

Nope, It stands for a man who is happy with his lot and has very low blood pressure and quite enjoys his few nights out in the Taxi.

Have you thought about taking up a sport to de-stress yourself Knighty? You may just reap the rewards when you're older.

As you may have gathered, no one's listening to you over here, so be a good chap and doodle off back to the RMt forum, you're a hero over there amoungst all the butterboys.
