The main roads in and around Grangemouth fair to good. 1 mile out, however in Polmont, on a very steep gradient, (that isn't a bus route so lower priority) kerb to kerb polished ice. One of ours, going up the hill, got hit along with a van and maybe a second car (by an late model audi) who's brakes locked (recall required, or just 400lbs of pressure on brake pedal?) on the way down. All humans are fine, but little xmas cheer for her, or her double shifter, this year.

30 mins later, again steep gradient, not a bus lane, some numpty, sick of sitting behind another of our cars, decided to overtake him. Not a problem, the road was wide enough, except there was an oncoming vehicle already on that side.

I've never been so glad of wee locals in and around town.

I find the Scariest thing of all is these ABS braking systems..brill in the dry or damp....utter liability on Ice or Snow, cant they build in an override switch to allow them to be turned off just like you can with Traction control/anti skid systems.

Push the peddle harder, the harder you press the better,
When going down hills drop to 1 st don't touch the clutch use the engine breaking, I can get down Elwyn crescent opposite the old borders college at 5 mph without touching any of the peddles.

Toots why not have some fun give Parbold hill a go you can see how fast you went when you receive the sliding speed ticket from the camera near the bottom

I'm snowed out  I've been told it's too dangerous to go down the lanes to my home and if I get in I won't be able to get out, not to mention the motorways to get there

Dont use the hill road, go through that little village

Don't you roll your eyes at me I already thought of that but I still have to go into the lane from the bottom and it's like an ice rink there and the village isn't much better

I never left the Wirral didn't fancy the motorway with the idiots don't slow down for anything and as for going down hills in my newly new vehicle, I don't think so

Fairly uneventful night, weather-wise, until my last two jobs:

30 mile run east to Chichester, amazed to see snow as I turned off the dual carriageway! Temp -2.5

On the return, passing Portsmouth, the temperature's up to +3.0.

Brief pick-up in Fareham then on to Southampton Airport, about 15 miles to the west. Temp at airport -1.5.

Back to Fareham, temp 0. It's started raining, then sleet and it's threatening to turn to snow.

I do hope we get some. I look forward to my snow waltzing in the car!! (Only very wide, clear, quiet roads, of course!!)

Through my sailing pursuits, I have taken an interest in meteorology. Even at school, it was a subject that held a great fascination for me.

I don't know if I could do it now but, at one time I could take down the shipping forecast and draw a synoptic chart (weather map).

Sorry, just attended beer barrel diving practice so probably blowing my own trumpet!!!

I love the fact that there are so many different talents behind the wheel of a taxi and so many different personalities and interests held. Most vocations attract similar types of people to them but taxi driving attracts quite a variation in personality

Well, just heard from son. He went to Germany yesterday morning for an interview.

Southampton to LHR via M3 at silly o'clock yesterday morning; Returned by same route today. Apparently, no hold-ups or delays at all.
