Stretch limo owner fined

The owner of a stretch limousine has been fined £175 for carrying passengers to a high school prom at the racecourse on June 27 without a proper licence. On Friday, Yarmouth magistrates heard the vehicle had no markings or plates saying it was licensed.

Mark Colman, of Lapwing Close, Bradwell, was fined £175 and ordered to pay £220 costs to the council after magistrates found him guilty of being the owner of a stretch limousine without having a private hire vehicle licence.

They ought to be checking round where I live. There are several unlicensed limos working from in this area, and they serve alcohol and show DVDs without licenses either.

In time I think they will check them all.

However I can say in my area where I use to see dozens a week, I now only see a few. :D

Strange that so many can't handle this licensing lark.

I don't think it is so much the licensing, it is the fact that work has dropped off because of the economic downturn.

I've seen plenty around Stamford this month so there must be a bit of work about for limos but peak season for limos is summer/autumn surely with the height of the wedding season and proms etc. so there wouldn't neccessarily be many about except at bankers xmas do's :D
