I have both my PH and my HC badge. I'm due renew my PH badge. Anyway when I was making my appointment to do this I asked one of our LO's why we didn't have a dual badge and the answer was "we like to get more money off you". Whilst I think he was joking when I spoke to another of our LO's today, and, asked what the chances were of us having a dual badge she very abruptly said none at all.

My question is to those that already have one is how did they go about getting a dual badge implented?

You lobby licensing councillors for a change in policy.

Bearing in mind no profit can be made from driver licenses, the fiancial excuse isn't valid.

Email your council ombudsman and explain that the only difference on the badges id the wording ie, taxi driver , private hire driver no other details change, and ask him or her to look into why you should pay twice for almost the same thing

But makework might be policy.

Don't want a PH licence myself, would rather stick needles in my eyes than drive a PH.

It's down to personal choice of course. Given the choice of a dual badge over 2 seperate badges I'd rather have the dual badge. Given the choice of having both badges rather than just one or the other I'd rather have both, but that just the kinda girl I am

Surely a Hackney badge is to all intents and purposes a duel badge? A Hackney is free to do pre booked jobs or have I mised something?

Outside of London many drivers drive both, as many firms have both on types in their fleets.
