A PERVERT cab driver has been banned from working as a taxi driver anywhere in Scotland.
Peter Campbell - who locked an 18-year-old girl in his taxi and bombarded her with sexual remarks, leaving her fearing she would be raped - was handed the three-year ban at Greenock Sheriff Court.
The 52-year-old had also made lurid comments to a female passenger he locked in his vehicle when he was a bus driver three years ago.
Campbell - also banned from driving buses - was put on the sex offenders' register for five years and ordered to attend sex offenders' rehabilitation.
Sheriff John Herald hit out: "This was a very frightening experience for these young women, where you spoke to them in a completely unacceptable manner."
He added: "Both they and their families would be quite entitled to demand that I send you to prison, but under the current legislation that couldn't be more than six months. If you kept your nose clean, you would be out sooner - and that is no use to me or the victims.
"You will be put on probation that will keep you under supervision for three years."
The court had heard how Campbell, of Greenock, asked the women if they had ever groped men in public places and if women looked at men's trunks in swimming pools.
Campbell subjected the 18-year-old to the sickening ordeal after picking her up at 2am, the court was told.
Campbell admitted placing her in a state of fear and alarm last February.
He also pleaded guilty to conducting himsel f in a disorderly manner on a bus in May 2006.
