I normally come here to help others but now for a change I’m asking for your help.

Over the last few months, we’ve been re-hacking our web site and have just included a working demo of our software. I could do with a few people to download it just to find out if we have any major issues running with PC’s not supplied or set up by ourselves. The software is guaranteed safe but I’d ask that its not be installed in any working taxi company just to be certain.

The download only takes a couple of minutes and should be fairly obvious to anyone in the trade. Any issues can be posted here or give me a call on 01925 850717 during the day. The demo can be downloaded from www.datamaster.co.uk

Thanks in anticipation

Bill :)

Bill, do you want it on a home pc running 24/7 or just intermittently(sp)?

I'm happy to let it run on mine for a few days, if that helps.

BTW, Do you have any customers in Scotland I can visit?

Off to work, back about 7ish, will download then if OK

Grumpy

Thanks for the quick reply. Just run it on your home PC and see if it all works. The problem is all our PCs are the same and already have our stuff installed so we need to know if anything is missing. Shouldn't matter how log you run it for because it designed for 24/7 anyway.

As for companies up you way, well not on your doorstep but plenty in the Glasgow area. (where the early bird gets the crusty rolls  )

DEMO and DEMO as it says in the instructions. You're the second one to ask that out of a total of two

This is exactly the stuff I need to see. If 2 out of 2 didn't spot this then it's pretty certain that most others will do the same. Read the next page for the how to use it bit.

Maybe we should just hack out the log in process for the demo.

bit later than expected, busy then tea.

downloaded with no problems. running as I type. nice interface.

car 30 having a 'mare so far 3 no pick-ups, lol

ran software for 30 mins, absolutely no problems encountered. No slowdown on my browsing (ran in tandem) all-in-all as I said a nice looking system.

hope this helps you somewhat. I'll be in touch next week to see if you can give me an introduction to one of your glasgow companies for a better look at the system.

Just back in, I downloaded the demo onto the slowest pc in Christendom, (at the office), and it went like a train. So I reckon it's safe to say your software is A.O.K., bill.

Right there were a few little cosmetic issues but nothing major and I’ll upload the fixes later today for anyone interested.

Thanks to everyone that that rang me, good to put a voice to some names. 8)

Hi Bill, nice program. Does everyone see the same screen or do telephonists have thier own booking screen or is it choice.

The screens look identical except for the data activity window that for telephonists shows incoming text and web bookings. What you actually see depends entirely on the machine’s screen settings so you could all be seeing completely different screens. Most people tend to run in 1280 x 800 wide screen mode that gives a good compromise.

Without looking, I think it's Alt M on the pickup line for Multi pickups OR on the dropoff line for multi drops then when your done just press enter.

I know we need to include the instructins on the web site but really I needed to know first if the software would run ok on peoples home PC's

No, I think it’s going to be fine now thanks.

I just needed to know that the deployment package was correct and that it’d work on a variety of machines.

We ran it for a few hours at the office today during a customer dem then realised that the simulator was generating random numbers and actually sending out real text back messages.
