Lots of thought jim, lots of it, and the thing is our members have unfettered access to the tools of their trade.

Well, Les, are you going to tell everyone what the feck you were thinking. Alternatively, can we expect your resignation on Monday morning?

Don't bet on it.

Dave from blackpool reckons that the merger would bring a reduction in circuit fees

When has anything either of these two have done ever resulted in a reduction of circuit fees?

Don't the members realise these companies are run as a beano for the committees?

Given the existing turnover of these two cooperatives, won't the economies of scale that could be anticipated be quite minor?

If you merge the radio systems, then there would be a capital cost for that. If you run two separate systems, then there would be an operation cost for that.

If you merge the two call centres then there would only be a minor supervisory rationalisation benefit to be had.

Two committees, two sets of egos, who gives ground? Or is there proposed a super committee with super remuneration? Savings? Oh dear.

Buildings, will there be sufficient capacity in one building or the other to host the merged outfit? Which property gets sold?

And would both sets of members join the new outfit on equal terms, or is there is disparity between the financial wellbeing of one or other which will need to be addressed?

Sorry guys. two o-operatives that are struggling, will just be merged into a single larger cooperative that struggles.

The real problem here is the mindset of both companies which is locked in the philosophy of a failing concept of socialised commerce that no longer works in the cut and thrust of current competitive capitalism.

It's time for a properly capitalised company, owned by shareholders, with a professional management team charged with driving the company forward.

I don't see a merged company having any effect on the market or the competition unless and until it sheds the inherently corrupt membership structure which allows the company to represent the interest of the committee members and not the membership as a whole.

And that representation should result in real hard financial returns to shareholders, not just the woolly hope that somehow any profits will be converted into a few sheckels discount of radio fees - which hasn't happened yet, the nearest being the containment of fees during AJ's tenure in office by all accounts, and isn't likely to happen in the future.

Definitely, a merger made of desperation. Never mind, I'm sure Dod, and McVey will sort things out. Oh and let's not forget Murray, Colin Anderson, oh yeah and Billy Purnell, Robertson, and Gary Pentland.

Is there anyone else?

I am dying to hear the spin put on this little lot.

:D

Oh, I know, it's all for their members own good. It has nothing to do with their (the committees) own interests.

It's a done deal then?

Why does it bother you so much skull and Taylor?

Your not on radio circuit and claim you never want to be! Let the guys that want to work within these companies get on with it!
