When I bought the cab I got all the keys etc. with keyfob for central locking. I also got a couple of jack plugs which aren't connected to anything. No wires just a black case with a jack plug on it. There is a jack socket at the base of the steering column where this could be plugged in. But what the hell is this for? There's no mention of this in the handbook. :?

Well it seems this jack plug is some kind of immobiliser over-ride function. Apparently you had to plug this in before you could get the ignition to engage. But it was a bad design and so many drivers had it disconnected or by-passed. Which is obviously what has been done with mine as it's completely redundant.

Wonder if that's why the keyfob for my central locking does nothing. I put a new battery in it but it still does nothing. The central locking works fine with the driver's door key and the buttons inside the cab. But the fob is useless.

The central locking on the fairway has always been pretty pants.
