I pressume (rightly or wrongly) that most of us know what Taxi call is. Anyway we have a group of taxi drivers using this system here. Somebody asked me what was to stop PH drivers using the same system. I pointed out the obvious operators licence that would be required and pressumably a land line number and an office/home to work from. I think their idea is to operate from home without the need to have an office as such because that is one the bigger expenditures in any business. Just wondered what everybody else thought

My home is also my office address. I have my desk in the corner of the living room as you know.

Not sure 'Taxi Call' would deal with a PH operation, but if they did then it could work, but every driver would need their own operator's license.

I thought this, I think the main concern is with regards to the need for a landline number

What is the problem with the landline number. You just buy one and have it diverted to the mobile.

Just checked the taxi call website and it does appear they do provide the service for PH and they explain on there the 2 options available so I'll pass that info on to the guy concerned. The bit below I think was one of the main concerns of the people considering this idea

Quote:
Some Licensing Authorities have a standard condition for a multi-vehicle Operator's licence that the Operator must have suitable premises for an office, complete with planning permission for use as an office and sufficient parking. However, such conditions are required by law* to be 'reasonably necessary' and this is not so in the case of a TaxiCall circuit, since it can hardly be reasonable to require an Operator to have an office if it is not needed.

Taxicall works well round here, there's one group of lads who are cleaning all of the village work up and earning some money in the meantime. Seems to work well and the lads seem happy with it.
