If the public don't take an interest in Taxi politics it generally means they are HAPPY with the service. To say we don't care is a RIDICULOUS statement, when a punter leaves my cab after tipping me extra or not mentioning any problems they have with the Taxi service, that shows me that the punter must have appreciated my service.
The public have little interest in politics of any kind, least of all taxi politics. They want to go home and as quickly as possible.

Ecph are stacking the plates up!!! They are trying to flood the market
during the week it's said 80% of their phc fleet are not working at night, whilst mon-fri i'm making the same money i've been making for the last 5 years, maybe an extra hour but still the same money.
If you think de-restriction coupled with a limit put on the number of taxi drivers then you too are living in the dark ages.
In Edinburgh there is a need for restriction it's as simple as that, there is now 1,300 hack plates, the Taxi trade is a trade that needs regulation to maintain standards, regulation stops the likes of ECPH becoming a Taxi company, Taxi's should be run by the individuals and as far as operating a plate or wanting a plate, when someone has wanted a plate in Edinburgh there has alway's been one available for sale so no one is being denied anything and like my previous post it cost's in the short term but really no cost in the long term, the investment is the sign of commitment, a fair system which works well in Edinburgh and has done so for decades.
