No you don't need to be a member of the NLcA to attend. All are welcome. The details are as follows.

The next one will be held on the evening of Wednesday March 17th 2010 at The Crowne Plaza Hotel, Pendigo Way, Birmingham, B40 1PS starting at 7:30pm.

If what you say were true then you Limo guys would be up in arms...and it doesnt look that way to me.

Besides...why would the Proff want to keep it a limochat secret..it just doesnt add up.

There is a limousine meeting in Scotland tonight regarding the VOSA/DTI removing the under 9 passenger license. Another meeting is planned for Birmingham next week, there will be othersas well. The NLcA are heading up a campagne to see if anything can be done about it. From a personal point of view, in the short term I don't have a problem with VOSA no longer licensing 8 seat and under because my limos are all private hire licensed. I do however have concerns regarding the problems with councils having to downgrade the seating capacity of cars because apart from my limos I also have 2 people carriers.
I can't remember the details from Proff but I am sure it has something to do with the EU enforcing more rules and councils will have to fall into line.

Do you have to be a member of a Limo organisation to attend the meeting in Brum & when & where is it?

I suppose I could blag my way in as Michael Jackson ex-chauffuer.

Joking apart, it would be interesting to listen.

Bad advertising...Wacko Jackos last Driver drove a Hearse..

Birmingham may be full of drunk Irishmen, but the Crown Plaza is at the NEC. Several miles away next to the airport.

That's a shame I'm on the pish although if there is plenty of alcohol flowing I could be persuaded. I say plenty but I can only usually cope with a couple of glasses of wine

And for those reading the above post & wanting to attend this meeting, but who are not familiar with Brum, this venue is within the NEC complex at Junction 6 of the M42, or alternatively, Junction 4 of the M6 & follow the signs.

No problem with parking the long limos at the NEC then, with something like the equivalent of 80-100 football pitches of car parking space.

Does a Paddy run this show? 17th March; what a night to pick!!

There is a brief youtube clip about the meeting on the NCLA website http://www.nlca.co.uk/

I note with interest the chap bemoaning the number of licensing areas in the country, and suggesting how hard it would be for the limo trade to get legal.

Strange the PH trade have managed it for 34 years, and the taxi trade for 163 years. :-k

As someone who really doesn't like these things, or more importantly the way most of the limo trade has gone out of their way to pull strokes left right and centre, I should be happy the way things are going for them.

Whereas on reflection I'm f***ing ecstatic.

Many councils still refuse to license limousines against government guirdelines. However there are some councils that still insist that stretched limousines do not require a license. :? Leicester City Council for one. Their line is that they don't license left hand drive vehicles therfore they don't need a license. As it is these people who would be responsible for prosecuting limo owners, well they aren't going to are they.

In this month's PHM the Traffic Commissioner for Wales responds on behalf of all TCs to the letter from the Limo folks.

http://www.phtm.co.uk/newspaper.asp pages 12 and 13.

Basically he has told all the PSV and Self Drive mob to go and get properly licensed as PH.

And about time too.
