First day tomorrow as a private hire driver, wish me luck!

Think I've got everything ready now, been running round sorting everything out the last few days - but should be up and running in the morning.

I'm looking forward to it to be honest, but like any new job you go into I expect it'll be a learning game for a few weeks / months... I shall find out!

Any words of wisdom / advice before I get out there would be welcome ;)

It pains me to say............Always judge a book by its cover! If you do you will not go far wrong..........Good Luck.

toots - We've spoken before, I used to post under my mate's old username (fairwaydriver)

I'll be on AP. Hoping to work mostly days, but no doubt I'll be doing a few nights too

To start with keep yourself to yourself.

Say good morning/afternoon/evening to all punters and office staff, but don't get involved with all the chit chat rubbish drivers spout out.

Look where all the other drivers sit, or what points they book on, as they do that for a reason. In other words just because an area doesn't have anyone booked on doesn't mean you will get a job there quicker.

The longer you work the more you will earn, so don't go home if you have had a right pony start. Things do change, and your next job could be the best one.

Don't expect to earn fortunes, but if you stick at it you will earn a living.

But don't expect to earn bundles for the first few months.

Well... This is my third day, and I'm enjoying the job so far.

I've been going in late (about half 9) and finishing early (about 4) and I've made what I'd expect to make working those hours.
After Monday I'll start putting the full day in, but I've been taking it easy this week to get used to things.
All in all, I'm happy - and I expect to find it easier / probably see takings increase a bit as I get to know the job more.
Bank holiday Friday started slow but picked up a bit as the day went on - just as I'd expected. I reckon Monday will be much the same.

We'll see what happens...
