My quote came through the post this morning for this coming year.

It would seem BRIT insurance is pulling out the the taxi market this year.

Dunno about Brit...but My latest insurance renewal shot up from £800 last year to £967 this year with the same provider...so after shopping about, the cheapest like for like quote was £800 with NCB Protection (or £735 without NCB Protection) and the dearest was £1,247 with NCB protection.

Oddly enough after Querying the £967 quote they offered to lower that same policy to £875!!

How come there is such wildly crazy price differances for very similar policys???

Absolutely loads are.

Two years ago Westminster (now Tradex) had much fewer policies in Brum than they had traditionally had over previous years.

Now they have bounced right back & are doing a roaring trade here, mainly due to a lack of alternative insurers.

Me; every year about three weeks before I'm due (insurance renewal that is), I email about seventy odd taxi insurance brokers with my full insurance details & let them squabble over my business. It works very well & I do get about half of them replying.

I have been using that system for five years now & know that I save saved at least a couple of grand in that time.

I just would not have the time to phone round all the insurance companies & brokers.

I use This Chap. He's always been good on price. Loads of lads round our way use him. If you click on the page there's an instant quote when you click on Taxi.
