they have drivers!

they could get the cheltenham army up this afternoon?

I will say it again for the hard of thinking.

If they have to plate the vehicles, then they will have to be licensed drivers.

Do you know where you can get a hundred or so licensed drivers over-night? :-k

Chesh,
Sorry to say I think it is rumour only. Wish it were true but we have heard nothing ourselves, except of course the story that you heard. I think it might be another example of a quiet night coupled with fervent imaginations.

As a postscript to the above I would be very surprised if Mrs Bell had made her mind up so quickly. Any decision that she makes to the detriment of our friends will without doubt finish up in court. So I would rather that they took the time and ensure that whatever they decide is defendable. At the end of the day our opinion is obviously clouded and it may well be that we were wrong all along.
If the story were true or even partially true I wonder why 30 days? If their antics are outside the law should they not cease immediately?
I know that there are a lot of P.h companies that are waiting to see what transpires, they have lost a lot of work to what they see as unfair practice at the airport and many have said that O licences will be their preferred route in future.
One firm in Derbyshire are arguing at the moment for the same rules that are applied at the airport to our friends should also apply to them.
Cheshire can you tell me where you heard the story?
Ged

a public body must be reasonable.

a judge will expect that even where the law is broken if the judge feels they acted in good faith.

30 days will be the time they deam Manchester city could deal with applications at a guess

You can repeat what you like, but if Airport Carz go PH at the airport they will need many licensed drivers to drive those vehicles.

Or have you found a way to license, CRB, medical check, DSA, etc etc in a day or two? :?

Ged,

It appears that its a rumour.
I only posted it as I heard the same story from three different drivers at different times.
I dont think the traffic commisioners have any such power.

Sussex,

As far as running unlicensed buses with unlicensed drivers being allowed by Manchester city council to work at the Airport.........the council are saying that '' we did not give them the 'o' licence so its not our creation therefore not our problem.

But, as Ged says, the next problem for the powers that be will be that there will be a flood of applicants wanting to do exactly just that then we have to see what happens.
It might be an idea for ALL the drivers at the Airport to apply for 'O' licences to operate on the same basis as ''Airportcarz'' and se what happens then

I am reliably informed that Airportcarz have been asked to:
1)Get an Operators Licence
2)Plate their vehicles
3) Get Drivers to obtain badges and
4) Stop ranking up as they do now.

lol Cheshire, you do have some admirable reliable sources. What’s coming next from these reliable sources? Did they depart this latest information before or after they supplied you with the facts about Liverpool? lol

Read up about ten posts I gave you the date of when this situation with Airportcarz would be resolved and it wont be a minute sooner, unless of course the Traffic Commissioner decides otherwise. Get your reliable source’s to look at this thread on the 21st December, they will then have the answer.

With regard to Airportcarz going private hire, it is highly unlikely to happen. The reason being is that they couldn’t operate in the same way as they are doing now. They would be severely restricted, they would not only have to abide by the 1976 act but all their vehicles would have to conform to Manchester City Council vehicle regulations. However, until it happens, it’s all hypothetical, just like another thread that was heading in the same direction.

Best wishes.

JD

And pay for their accommodation etc etc.

Also what do they do with their Chelteham work, do they get drivers from other areas to cover that. And then how do they cover the other area's work? .................................... :? :? :? :?

Sussex
your total lack of strategic thinking, is what makes you useless to be an opperator.

you would find it impossible to get a taxi out.

there is surplus in the vast majority of PH firms

you just stop drivers lounging around, and keep them on the road.

The commissioners will not report until the 21st of December.
It is beginning to look like the old political trick of making unpopular announcements just before holidays to stifle any backlash. eusasmiles.zip

I am not discouraged but I am a pragmatist, and I do not expect the knock out blow that this company deserves. I have said repeatedly that we should have been winning skirmishes instead of a full blown battle, because if this report goes pear shaped it leaves the door wide open for the vultures waiting in the wings.
We have been getting pretty good feedback but let us wait and see.

The commissioners have put back the date to 14th January.
We are getting mixed messages. initially we were told that it was because there aws a police prosecution pending but this info was later rescinded.
Ah well it gives us something to look forward to in the New Year.
