apologies, i was not trying to spam you at all.

It was just that as you had been contributing to the thread and seemed to be one of the more "sceptical" i though it would be goog to offer you a free trial.

sorry if i have offended

Dare I ask what manner of spamming was at the core of the wrongdoing?

Of course you can ask. :D

I think sending the same PM to a number of members promoting a product isn't the TDO way of doing things.

Let's discuss any product on the open forum for all to see.

What your web site says is do not trust taxi drivers trust us.Who is the clown for posting on a taxi drivers forum questioning our honesty (numpty)

I'm not sure it says that. Not everyone has a taxi driver in the front room, so the site calculates it for the punter based on local approved tariffs.

I would be more than happy to go anywhere on my council approved rate.

I'd agree with Sussex, particularly in today's economic climate, that the vast majority of us would be more than happy to work on local approved tariffs.

However, whilst I personally would be happy to keep the wheels turning at council approved rates (to any distance...in fact even Skippy's discounts are looking appealing...well maybe not :D ), may I introduce a brief point/question that possibly requires further investigation?

That is...don't drivers in some LA's, providing it is agreed at the start of the journey with the customer, quite legally charge higher tariffs for "out of the borough"? (possibly using night rates/higher tariffs for all 24 hrs etc).

This isn't the time to debate the rights and wrongs of the said action (some will say wrong in today's economic climate, some will say right as a driver has to travel back "empty" to their own LA)...but the Taxiroute calculator, though understandable, takes no account of this.

The taxiroute concept seems OK and from what some seem to be saying, may be fairly accurate overall, but could be responsible for causing potential arguments in such instances, where an estimate might be a few £'s different from the actual (even possibly metered) price.

It would probably be an impossible task for "taxiroute" to take account of such data, particularly country-wide, but maybe a disclaimer should be added to point out that the estimates only cover journeys starting and finishing within a particular LA (as tariff sheets might normally say) and that the driver should be asked to confirm any estimate provided.

It's very rare for us to do a full metered run, pre-booked of any great distance. We normally end up discounting it, even if only a little bit. At the end of the day, all the customer is getting is an estimate, however I agree it should be more prominant on the site.

I would say at least 50% of my out of town work goes on the meter. The balance quoted at just less.

As for the pricing to include the out of town top-up merchants, surely the job price quoted is based on a certain local firm that will ensure the price quoted is adhered to.

Yeah ok this is handy but.......Not everyone knows the destinations postcode then it doesn't work!

If I put in my details for the pick up and Heathrow for the destination it doesn't work. How many punters know the postcode for Heathrow ?

thanks for feedback... off the top of my head here are my thoughts...

The very last thing i want to happen is arguments.

Based on some PMs ive had about route choice and pricing I reckon a good idea might be to offer 3 prices, the shortest, the quickest and the average. Hopefully that will make it clearer to people that the reality is its an estimate.

No, i can do that. I have spatial data for LA boundaries which enables me to geocode any lat/long and work out the LA. So, i have the ability to "reverse route", as i call it.... and tell if a route crosses a boundary.

The new version includes the ability to choose an airport/terminal/train station by free typing into a search box. bit like google. as you type it will offer suggestions of what you are looking for.

It's in beta. can i interest any victims out there to test it?

hopefully it will help with your point
