i got that wrong, theres 2 x 10 miles and 2 x 16 miles in the tender

20+32= 52 loaded miles

£40.32 (if all are in the same price)

odd figure isnt it........£40.32......

Its still almost 78 pence per mile...thats no Volunteer rate..its Taxi PH tender rate..not a particularily cheap rate either...least not around here.

They want strung up...thats Deffo for Reward.

Actually when I price a job for them that I want and there are others who will also want it, I quote some strange pence figures in a bid to out think the opposition.
I have also just spoken to the transport department and the system is saying that Voluntry action Melton won the bidding but for some reason the contract has not yet been awarded. The person dealing with it has already left for today but I will be speaking to her on Tuesday. I did point out the 40 pence per mile rule.

a County Council school transport shouldnt give work to vehicles which are not plated, i know Staffs wont consider a "green plate" (school only) plate

if the outfit at melton are passing the jobs to volunteers they are in the wrong, its classed as a "social care" job, so probably an ambulance transport (PTS) type job, of which quite a few have gone through LCC of late

No..your right, this reeks of skulduggery..

Ive a question...where on Council/Local authority websites can you find that kind of Information as to the prices of winning tenders.

Ive Checked out the www.scotborders.gov.uk site and I cant find any such information...surely it should be open to the public in the interest of transparency....I can recall asking years ago about winning prices but the view then was that it may be seen as an Unfair Advantage and was kept private..

Id appreciate any help on this one..

Any job that is put out to tender under the framework agreement in Leicestershire is eventually put on their website. It gives the contract number, the winning bidder, the winning price, the number of tenders received and the highest tender received.
Anyone who tenders for a job will also receive an email telling them who has won the tender and at what price. This is the same for school buses.
However unless you received an invitation to tender and you kept the details, you would not know what the tender was for. I, as a matter of course, save all invitation to tender in case I want to review them at a later date. Since June 9th last year I have received in excess of 350 invitations.

i think giving the volunteer setup kosher county work is worse than the "self drive" limo scam, the county should know better!

Dear Operator,

Thank you for your interest in the above tender. I regret to inform you that you were unsuccessful on this occasion.

The winning price was £xx.xx, submitted by xxxxx TAXIS.

The latest taxi tender results can be found at http://www.leicestershire.gov.uk/index/ ... rators.htm and then clicking on the 'Taxi Tender Results' link. This page is updated on a weekly basis.

This is a copy of a reply that I get after I have tendered.

this link should take you to the results page.

just seen that leics county have given a contract to an oufit called "VOLUNTARY ACTION MELTON", a registered charity

Now thats bang out of order

http://www.voluntaryactionmelton.org.uk ... river.html

a 10 mile each way job, £20 each way

thats more than 40p per mile................

Quote:
Social car schemes and Community Bus services are run by local voluntary groups and supported by Leicestershire County Council.
These services provide transport for people who have difficulty accessing public transport.

On social car schemes, volunteers user their own cars to take people to local activities and places

so subsidised AND charging for work over 40p a mile...

double bubble

I have just checked out the route and to do the job on the meter would cost just under £80 or just under £32 for the Syston part of the job and just under £48 for the Loughborough part of the job. So if I had been able to do the job and wanted it I would have quoted an average daily price of £39.70.
The total miles for the job would be 104 so their total price should have been in the region of £41.60 and not £80.64 unless of course the volunteer driver actually lives about 15 miles outside of Melton.

If i won a tender off LCC then didnt replate or badge, but created myself as a "volunteer service" i bet they would take the work off me...
