If you inflate a balloon into a tube with a flow of water in it, the balloon becomes water tight and will stop any liquid passing. Now, if you up the scale, with a strong enough balloon it could prevent any kind of liquid from passing any sized balloon in any sized tube.

Does anyone else think BP are missing a trick here?

If they could Blow it into a ballon then they could just as easily blow it into an oil tanker...but they Cant.

$1Million dollars an hour the Yanks are fining BP thats $24 Million per day and it may last another 3 months until they drill a relief well, possibly around 140 days in total that will be $3.36 Billion in fines alone and then God knows how much more to clean the mess up.

Sadly BP is our biggest Single UK Tax payer so in the end it will be you and I that pick up the bill for these fines etc. The Scale of this disaster will send ripples much further than just the gulf of Mexico.

:?
