Been using Asda fuel for years. Never had a problem.

in what car, is it Hdi/Common rail, or ford Tdci engine??

Various over the years but last 3 a 1999 VW 1.9TDi

I do occasionally use other fuels, depending on the price or how low the tank is.

a 99 VW Tdi wouldnt common rail would it?

the new breed of coded injectors which are coded to PCMs and have high pressure pumps are proving problematic

That is correct. Supermarket fuel is low in lubricating properties which causes problems with the diesel pumps.

I've never used ASDA fuel after it caused £1000 worth of damage to my fuel pump back in 2005. The chap at the diesel place was telling me some right horror stories about the damage supermarket fuel does to the injection system.

I've steered clear of it since.

ive got a starting issue which needs a file updating on my ECU/PCM - 20 minutes work, only Ford can do it, £55 plus vat....

then ill know if i need my injectors recoding (£60) or a refurb (£100 each) or maybe new ones (£150 each)

then i may need a DMF and clutch - £800

so i may as well have the aux belt and tensioner plus bottom pulley done too - £180

erm, how is a diesel cheaper to run?....

I thought all the supermarkets bought their fuel from the same refineries that supply Shell, BP etc?

Well so far, so good, it's running ok.

As ok as a TX2 ever will. :D

they do, in bulk, basic derv

it may be shell/BP but wont be shells/BP standard own, which has additives

all UK diesel has a basic BN number, also, some is sulphur free and many have 5% Bio included, the maximum allowed by many engine producers

No, Tesco are supplied by a company called Greenergy. Tesco have a 25% stake in Greenergy.

Morrisons used to sell Shell and Texaco but now use the same company as Tesco. Morrisons also hold a 25% stake in Greenergy

ASDA also use Greenergy who also have a 25% stake.

Sainsburys are like the above.

Greenergy is a Swiss company, get this Swiss, Tax free and the big 4 all have an equal stake in the company.
