this Cheshire man is going rampant!

trying to play the barrister without the ability

as you said Cheshire the motorway was blocked up, the side roads were blocked up and I had the airport to myself.

paul old son you obviously were not there, the people waiting were not at ranks as there were no [edited by admin] taxis and no prospects of one.

the people were spilling all over the outside lanes of terminal 2

it was unbelievable

so are you.

Oh no, people waiting at taxi ranks and not being served by taxis, is clear evidence of significant un-met demand.

Sussex Can't you read what the man said ?

''Many Private Hire dodn't arrive at all ! ''

So we must now de-limit hackneys when Private Hire ( which is De-Limited already fail to turn up ) ??

I still insist that Hackneys were there !

If the PH don't arrive, then really the HC trade should be de-limited to be able to cover their work as well.

I dont think Sussex you understand or you are being provocative.

the ranks at the airport are private ranks, they pay to go on them, so there are not limits in the way you suggest.

yer pays your grand per shift per year an yer on!

Sorry, but you are wrong on this one !

The Airport Drivers pay for something else.
There is no such thing as private ranks.
A taxi rank is a taxi rank simple as that.

Hi

I don't know about Manchester, well only what I read about 3 years ago, but at Heathrow the Black cabs have to pay to pull up on the rank.

So one could say in this instance it is not a Taxi rank, but a private one.

I know that company over at Gatwick put in a tender for private hire at Manchester and got it, however the HC put a stop to it as the Director was hiding an undisclosed bankruptcy, but I think that one is old old news.

What did end up happening with that?

Regards Eric

At most Airports and railway stations drivers are required to pay for a permit.

The cost of each permit is decided by how much the landowner accepted from the company operating the permits.

The number of permits is usually decided by the number of drivers required to pay the fees, ie a £52000 annual payment could be payable by 100 drivers at £100 per week, if they then wanted to reduce fees the number of vehicles would have to be increased, so if they wanted to half their weekly contribution the number of contributing drivers would need to be doubled.

The actual space used, ie the rank is usually not adopted by the licensing authority and could therefore be classed as a private rank.
